PHILIPS LIGHTING INTRODUCES REVOLUTIONARY FAMILY OF HALOGENÁ® ENERGY ADVANTAGE HIGH-EFFICIENCY LAMPS FOR PROFESSIONAL MARKET

October 30, 2007
Somerset, New Jersey - Philips Lighting Company, a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation, an affiliate of Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI), proudly announces the introduction of its revolutionary new family of Halogená® Energy Advantage lamps. Delivering crisp, bright light, long life, and 30-38% energy savings over traditional incandescent technology, Halogen&accute; Energy Advantage bulbs are offered in a variety of shapes and wattages and represent a powerful, energy-efficient, and unprecedented new green lighting solution for the professional lighting market.

Ideal for use in table and floor lamps, recessed cans, track lighting, and general lighting fixtures, Halogen&accute; Energy Advantage lamps enable commercial, retail, institutional, and hospitality users to reduce energy consumption and energy costs without sacrificing the quality of the light in their spaces. Available in 40 Watt, 50 Watt, and 70 Watt traditional shapes as well as a 40 Watt flood light model, these products offer a rated average life of 3,000 hours, deliver the same light output as their higher-wattage incandescent equivalents, and serve as significantly more energy-efficient alternatives to the market's popular incandescent options. For example, the 70 Watt Halogen&accute; model offers the equivalent light output of a 100 Watt A-19 incandescent lamp, the 50 Watt Halogen&accute; model offers the equivalent light output of a 75 Watt A-19 incandescent lamp, and the 40 Watt Halogen&accute; model delivers the equivalent light output of a 60 Watt A-19 incandescent lamp, enabling these Halogen&accute; Energy Advantage lamps to reduce energy consumption by 30% relative to standard incandescent technology. The Halogen&accute; BR30 model offers the equivalent light output of a 65 Watt incandescent BR30 flood lamp and represents an alternative to standard incandescent technology that reduces energy consumption by 38%.

Designed around traditional lamp shapes to maximize compatibility with current incandescent lamp and fixture styles, the bulb delivers bright, white, high-quality halogen light that enhances the look, feel, and ambiance within a space. Requiring no warm up time, as CFLs do, the bulbs feature instant light and are fully dimmable for maximum versatility and design flexibility. The bulbs are also mercury free, promoting sustainable and environmentally-conscious design, and are packaged in distributor-friendly quantities to promote ease of stocking and handling.

According to Susan Bloom, Director of Corporate Communications for Philips Lighting, "the Halogen&accute; Energy Advantage line was designed around the features proven to be of most critical importance to professional end users, which include energy efficiency and similarity to traditional incandescent light bulbs in their look, feel, and operating characteristics. With Philips Lighting's new Halogen&accute; Energy Advantage line, the professional market can truly have it all -- comfortable halogen lighting solutions which deliver energy-saving capabilities currently unprecedented in the industry."

Energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and sustainability have long been guiding principles behind Philips Lighting's product and service innovations. As recently as March 2007, Philips Lighting, along with U.S. legislators, environmental groups and other members of the Lighting Efficiency Coalition, announced plans to promote new performance standards that would help phase out the industry's most inefficient lighting products in favor of more energy-efficient technologies over the coming decade. Philips Lighting's new Halogen&accute; Energy Advantage line of high-efficiency halogen lamps represents just one revolutionary new lighting solution that will assist the marketplace in optimizing lighting quality while helping to drive a more energy-efficient future for generations to come.
