Assumes Shared Communications Role with Advance

Somerset, New Jersey - Philips Lighting Company, a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation, an affiliate of Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI), today announced the appointment of Susan Bloom to Director of Corporate Communications. Ms. Bloom will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day media relations and communications functions for Philips Lighting's consumer and professional product divisions.
Ms. Bloom is a seasoned communications professional with more than 16 years of experience in the lighting industry in successive marketing and communications roles. She was most previously Manager of Public Relations for Advance, a leading ballast manufacturer and division of Philips Electronics North America. In addition to her new responsibilities with Philips Lighting, Ms. Bloom will continue serving in her role with Advance. Prior to joining Advance, Ms. Bloom was a Marketing Manager at the ballast division previously affiliated with MagneTek, Inc.
Ms. Bloom is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a Masters of Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing. She is on the Executive Committee of the National Lighting Bureau, has authored dozens of articles in the trade press and has been quoted in a variety of publications, including The New York Times, Buildings, The Electrical Distributor, and Chain Store Age. Ms. Bloom replaces Steve Goldmacher, who retired from Philips Lighting Company earlier this month following 29 years of service.
