February 28, 2007
Somerset, New Jersey - Philips Lighting Company, a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation, an affiliate of Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI), today announced the introduction of its new Low Bay LED Luminaires designed for use in applications where widely distributed, glare-free, white light is required. The new Low Bay Luminaires feature LEDs and is designed for new construction or retrofitting areas where older, less efficient lighting systems are installed.
The new Luminaires' clean design and optics provide excellent visibility and has the benefit of improving safety and enhances the appearance of any facility while reducing energy use by up to 50 percent. In addition to the significant energy savings LEDs can offer over older, existing technologies, LEDs provide an instant on/off capability that could be used with activity sensors. The new Low Bay LED Luminaires can be used in factories and production facilities as well as parking garages, warehouses, gymnasiums and hangars.
This new Philips Low Bay LED Luminaires feature long-life and energy efficiency in an easy to install, simple format that requires no special wiring or ballast. Designed with energy savings in mind, the new Luminaires also provide cool white light and high color rendering, all the traits necessary for good visibility. With no warm up needed, facility managers can be assured of the comfort and safety of their tenants wherever they may be used.
LED's in this Luminaire have an average rated life of 50,000 hours, more than twice the life of the metal halide lamps commonly used in typical Low Bay applications. In addition to the 50 percent energy savings, there is less maintenance cost associated with new Luminaire and less heat generated than in existing metal halide Luminaires. This can save on air conditioning costs in enclosed spaces.
The new Low Bay Luminaires are backed by a three year Philips warranty and is currently available.
