Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 - Incandescent Reflectors Energy Efficiency Legislation

On December 19, 2007, President George W. Bush signed H.R.6, the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (the "Act") into law. This Act sets aggressive energy efficiency standards to help increase efficiency of products, buildings, and vehicles. Ultimately the goal is to move the U.S. towards greater energy independence and security.

Subtitle B, Section 322 expands the types of incandescent reflector lamps covered by efficiency standards prescribed in the Energy Policy Act and Conservation Act. In general, the legislation prohibits the manufacture of certain incandescent reflector lamps unless they meet or exceed energy efficiency standards set forth in the Act.

We recommend you begin converting to either a comparable incandescent, halogen, or compact fluorescent reflector which meets the new guidelines, as you deplete your existing inventory. See the Product Upgrade Chart to find which lamps should be used as replacements for lamps not meeting the requirements.
