Philips has assembled an outstanding faculty from diverse backgrounds that bring unique and specialized expertise to the LAC Professional Workshops.
|
Dan’s 25-year lighting career spans sales, marketing, product development and education—in both residential and commercial applications. His consulting practice specializes in marketing, communication, and training; its clients include Philips Lighting, Lightolier, and the American Lighting Association.
He has spoken on energy efficiency, advanced lighting systems, and lighting technology throughout the country, and has written application guides, video scripts, catalogs, case studies, technical bulletins and other marketing materials, including Lightolier’s
Designing With Light television program and The First Hundred Years, a history of the company. He also developed the Residential
Lighting Training Manual and online seminars for the American Lighting Association.
Dan is President of the Designer’s Lighting Forum of New York, a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), and a Director of the Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education. |

Gary is a practicing architectural lighting designer. His award winning firm has designed more than 1,000 lighting systems for corporate, institutional, residential, and retail projects. Trained as an architect, he designs both the lighting and the lighting equipment; all of his original luminaire designs remain in production.
In addition to winning numerous design awards, Gary wrote Interior Lighting, the primary lighting textbook used by college students and design professionals. A frequent speaker to allied professionals and former instructor at Parsons School of Design, he helped develop Parsons’ MFA in Lighting Design program.
Gary is a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), a Fellow of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), and a Founding Director of the Nuckolls Fund for Lighting Education. As three-term President of NCQLP, he established the first national certification program for lighting professionals. |

Paul has more than 25 years experience as an educator, salesperson, lighting manufacturer, and manager of large construction projects. He is the founder and principal of Maintained Illumination, LLC, a Buffalo, NY, company that helps lighting and electrical professionals design projects that improve lighting quality and reduce energy use.
Paul has worked on numerous energy-efficient revitalization projects with communities, municipalities, utilities, and federal agencies, giving him a hands-on understanding of how to implement construction projects.
Paul has a long acquaintance with the Lighting Application Center. As the former manager, he developed the Center’s Industrial and
Consumer Theaters and has conducted workshops for professionals, distributors, and end users. An avid student of adult education, as
well as a teacher, Paul has created many interactive activities that support the understanding of lighting principles and technologies. |
