Energy-Saving Solutions
Saving energy is no longer just good citizenship – it is a means to business growth. Industrial facilities especially have much to gain, with potentially thousands of square feet of inefficient lighting draining the bottom line. The potential to convert your losses into gains is now all the more dramatic with the recent development of extremely efficient lighting technologies.

For example, Philips new Pulse-Start Metal Halide lamps produce more lumens for brighter light and they sustain their high output for up to 25% longer.

Our new Econ-o-watt® Metal Halide lamps simply screw into your existing fixtures to reduce watt consumption by 10% – yet they produce the same lumens and rated lamp life as your standard 400-watt metal halide lamps.

These and other lamp advancements are making energy efficient lighting a first tactic among facility managers and owners. The facts are clear: New energy efficient lighting is an investment with rapid returns, yielding ongoing savings that can easily reach tens of thousands of dollars in a few years.

Environmental Solutions
New government mandates for the proper disposal of mercury are adding to the operating costs of industrial facilities. Philips has taken a stand on this issue by pioneering low mercury content lamps that carry no cost-compliance burdens.

Philips ALTO® lamps contain 70% less mercury than the 2001 industry average. ALTO lamps are the only fluorescent lamps to have passed California’s Total Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC); and they have done so for the past seven years running. ALTO lamps have earned a non-hazardous waste status. They are not subject to current and emerging restrictions, and costs related to the sorting, handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste.

Maintenance Solutions
Industrial facilities are especially challenged to minimize workflow disruptions caused by burned out lamps. To preempt this problem, facility managers can follow two strategies that reduce maintenance costs: use long life lamps and practice group relamping. These strategies are even more effective when using Philips new higher performance lamps, with significantly longer service lives.

For example, Philips new ALTO ® Universal T8 fluorescent lamp delivers 33% longer life than the industry standard T8. This translates to 10 months or more additional lamp life from our standard lamp. If you want to replace lamps even less often, you can double your lamp life and extend lamp changeouts by up to 4 years, by installing our new ALTO T8 Advantage fluorescent lamps.

For your high-bay areas, our new instant restrike high pressure sodium lamps extend lamp life by 166% over standard HPS lamps. And in unheated warehouses and parking garages where lower temperatures are a factor, our new ALTO T8 HO line of fluorescent lamps offers higher efficiency, longer life, and higher light output than traditional T12 HO lamps.

Performance Solutions
Lamp-end blackening, insufficient and uneven light output, poor color stability, and the jaundiced glow of sodium lamps are the characteristics of older lamp technology…limitations that can add up to eye fatigue, hampered performance, weakened quality control, employee dissatisfaction, lapses in safety, and lower productivity. Philips is helping you overcome these and other critical “quality of light” limitations, by offering a choice of superior industrial lamp options.

As you survey your opportunities to improve quality of light and reduce costs, perhaps the most dramatic change you can make is to replace any HPS yellow light with bright, white light. This is easily done with our new MasterColor® HPS-Retro White™ ceramic metal halide lamps, which simply screw into your current high pressure sodium lamp fixtures.
